From an interview published in The Coventry Evening Telegraph; April 14, 2007:

MALT whisky and fly fishing are two of the perks of filming ITV hit Foyle’s War for Michael Kitchen.

The Midlander recently appeared in ITV drama Mobile, but has found international success playing quiet Second World War sleuth Christopher Foyle and loves the fact his police character’s pleasures outside work include a wee dram and fishing.

The 58-year-old says he didn’t have to do too much research for that part of the role and admits: “Malt whiskies have always appealed to me – Laphroaig is my favourite. I always loved the idea of fly fishing too, just never got around to it, but I saw the opportunity to introduce it into Foyle.”
