i do hope Foyles War continues
i’m a nun in a monastery, & Foyle is seriously decent
we love the show – all DVD’s here as we don’t watch telly
i’m sure Michael Kitchen could do some more?!! Maybe?
he really is a very good actor…sad to stop the show now, don’t you think?

Well, I shall have to try that! Still, why is it the show must end?
Don’t you want to do it anymore? It really has been a superb series.
I’m sure people generally appreciate good quality productions
Even before I entered the monastery (18 yrs ago) there was so much garbage on TV
Though BBC’s Pride & Prejudice was brilliant – such a breath of much needed fresh air!
It’s amazing how much people learn through example – & Foyle sets a marvelous example as a human being, & as a person of authority, & as a just wielder of that authority – who isn’t cowed by those above him who have problems with decency & truth. We need more of this in the media, not less. I don’t see movies as mere entertainment. Good cinema can go way beyond that. In Foyle’s war you see people making choices for different reasons, good & bad.
But Foyle, in his humility, manages to walk a tricky line whilst remaining true to his well formed conscience
Whether a viewer realises or not, what they view makes its mark on their unconscious. Thoughtful shows with positive role modelling & genuine depth are valuable to society. I believe shows like this need to continue. Well… off my hobby horse. It’s prayer time. Cup of tea out in the garden under a tree should start things nicely!
PS: thanks for responding to my email – I didn’t expect that at all. Very kind of you. God bless 🙂

Yes, how nice it would be if a superb production like Foyle’s War that so many appreciate as much more than mere entertainment could go on forever, but Anthony Horowitz insisted it was time to walk away, and I suspect MK and HW were in agreement. I’ve enjoyed your comments. It’s not every day that one hears from a nun. 🙂

So what will you do after this then? Retire the way poor Foyle kept trying to do? Hmmm?

I think acting can be a vocation…& do a lot of good, as I’ve already said
so I don’t think it’s all nonsense! You know JPII wanted to be an actor?
God had other ideas of course…Anyway, you wouldn’t still be doing it if you didn’t love it, would you?

Now, would that be blogging or acting that you love doing?
    Yes, it is a good thing I’m a nun…
God saved some poor chap out there a very large headache! 🙂

    this is really funny 🙂 well…no I didn’t know
But it does mean that the show may well go on
I mean, if you’re not him, then he himself may not be quite so
certain about ceasing production? Maybe? You said ‘I suspect’
only…& you may be correct…but twice before they said they had
finished with it…so…we shall have to wait & see 🙂
    God bless
