In his review of The German Woman posted on mysteryfile.com, Curt J. Evans writes:
As the Detective Superintendent, Michael Kitchen has amazing gravitas and droll charm. His character is Always Right on the weighty moral issues this and other episodes of the series address, and you just wish he were in charge of the whole darn, messed-up world.
The review produced a lengthy discussion in the comments section with a whole host of interesting points raised about the show and the character of Foyle. Given all the differing opinions expressed, it’s notable that all the commenters are unequivocal in their praise of Michael Kitchen’s superlative performance as Foyle.
