Available on eBay, postcards issued by the Royal Shakespeare Company with Michael Kitchen as Bolingbroke in Richard II and Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet. The Sunday Times gave MK glowing reviews for both in 1987:

Barry Kyle’s glittering Stratford production is strong on politics – Jeremy Irons’s distraught, lyrical king is superbly complemented by Michael Kitchen’s tough, devious Bolingbroke.

Snazzy designer production, fairly enjoyable, except for Michael Kitchen’s Mercutio which is superb.

An RSC ad for Richard II from The Times indicates Michael Kitchen’s high stature in British theater during this period.
